After Lengthy License Dispute, BJ’s Now Selling Alcohol In Framingham: Report
The warehouse store chain began seeking permission to sell liquor here in 2020.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — There’s now booze at BJ’s.
Warehouse store chain BJ’s Wholesale Club has begun selling alcohol at its Framingham location after trying since 2020 to get permission, the MetroWest Daily News reported.
The state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission granted approval in January for the store at 26 Whittier St. to sell beer, wine and liquor, despite concerns that the giant merchant might hurt sales at smaller, local stores.

The BJ’s branch in Framingham had applied to transfer a liquor license from a neighboring business, which BJ’s had bought and then closed.
Sales began April 2. Headquartered in Marlborough, BJ’s has over two dozen locations in Massachusetts and already sells alcohol in some of them.
