SOUTHBOROUGH, MA — A Framingham man is facing charges after police said he crashed a car into a Southborough home on Sunday night and tried to hide alcohol from the vehicle.

Luis Fernando Mazariegos Castillo, 18, was charged with operating under the influence and several other offenses, according to police. Southborough police responded around 6:45 p.m. Sunday to Southville Road, where a black 2009 Pontiac Vibe had crashed into the corner of a home.

Officers found the front end of the vehicle crushed and all airbags deployed. The home sustained minor damage, and a utility pole near the driveway was also damaged, police said.

The vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived, but police soon found Mazariegos Castillo and a passenger nearby.

A preliminary investigation found that Mazariegos Castillo allegedly removed bottles and cans of alcohol from the vehicle after the crash and tried to hide them nearby, police said. Investigators later determined he had been operating under the influence, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Mazariegos Castillo was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, obstruction of justice, withholding evidence from a criminal proceeding, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, littering, possession of alcohol by a person under 21, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

The passenger, a 42-year-old Framingham woman, was also charged with obstruction of justice, police said.

Mazariegos Castillo is expected to be arraigned Monday in Westborough District Court.
