FRAMINGHAM, MA — Starting Saturday, MWRTA will begin a new bus route that will connect riders directly to the Green Line in Newton.

The bus will run on Saturdays only during a test phase. The shuttle connects Framingham near the Route 9 and Mass Pike interchange east to the Woodland Green Line stop near Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Along the way, the shuttle will stop along Route 9 in Natick and Wellesley before heading into Newton.

The shuttle route is a hybrid of two existing MWRTA bus routes, the 1 and 9. Those two routes usually meet at the Natick Mall during regular weekday service. The new Green Line connector will take about 50 minutes to get from the Halstead Apartments in Framingham to the Woodland station, according to MWRTA.
