While Wayland is not hosting it's own Fourth of July parade, neighboring Sudbury will celebrate the holiday with its long-standing parade.

This year's parade is on Saturday, Jul. 4 at 1 p.m. The route is approximately 2.5 miles long.The parade route runs from Union Ave (at Chiswick park) to Route 20 E to Concord Rd north to the town center

Meanwhile, Wayland has been commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution with a year-long series of fun and engaging activities.

Here are some events to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution: 

Music of America’s Foundation
Music of America’s Foundation is an afternoon celebrating the soundtrack of America’s history, authentically performed by The Red Horse Oldtime Stringband.

On Sunday, June 28th at 2:00 PM, gather on the Town Green at Wayland Center for this free outdoor concert experience. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy an afternoon of live traditional music in a relaxed, community setting. Guests are welcome to bring their own refreshments.

Presented by Arts Wayland in partnership with WaylandRev250, Wayland Museum Historical Society, Wayland Park and Rec, and Wayland Town Center, this program brings history and music together on the Green.

Reading Frederick Douglass Together 

Join us to explore the complex layers of our history through Frederick Douglass’s powerful words. Wayland resident and facilitator Dr. Eden Reneé-Hayes of Pluralism Solutions will lead a communal reading and discussion of the abridged “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”. History at Play: Rendezvous with Rachel Revere

After her husband’s famous midnight ride, Rachel Revere was separated from her husband by the Siege of Boston. She was left to devise a plan to safely take her seven children — six from Paul’s first marriage and their own newborn — out of the reach of the British Army. Learn about the woman behind the legendary patriot, in this one-woman show by HIstory at Play. Educator, writer, and living historian Judith Kalaora brings Rachel and her perilous mission to unite her family to life.
