Commuter Rail Returns To 'Normal' Along Worcester Line
The MBTA has wrapped a project installing signal controls. Buses will still replace trains on weekends, however.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Weekday work on a months-long project to install new safety features along the Worcester MBTA line wrapped up on Sunday. That means shuttle buses won't be replacing trains anymore, at least on weekdays.
The MBTA began installing a positive-train control system along the Worcester line in February, and was supposed to finish by June. But beginning on June 22, the MBTA suddenly replaced weekday trains with buses between Framingham and South Station after more work was needed.
As of July 13, trains will run normally on weekdays, and six scheduled trains will return to the schedule:

- 4:40 a.m. from South Station
- 5:50 a.m. from Worcester
- 6:57 a.m. from Worcester
- 7:10 a.m. from South Station
- 4:50 p.m. from South Station
- 6:10 p.m. from South Station
However, buses will still replace trains between Framingham and South Station on weekends between July 18 and Aug. 30. The buses will skip Auburndale, West Newton, Boston Landing, Lansdowne and South Station.
