Coronavirus, Flu Vaccine Clinics Coming To Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A local pharmacy and a coronavirus community group are partnering with Framingham State University to offer free COVID-19 and flu vaccines at two clinics in September.

Framingham State University has partnered with MetroWest Pharmacy and the Framingham Coronavirus Community Outreach group for free COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot clinics for students, faculty, and staff.

The first clinic will be Sept. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the FSU Athletic Center, and the second will be Sept. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Ecumenical Center.

"We are excited and grateful to partner with the Framingham Coronavirus Community Outreach group and MetroWest Pharmacy to offer these two important Vaccine Clinics right on our campus," says Framingham State President F. Javier Cevallos. "Vaccinations are our best weapon against COVID-19, so the more accessible we can make them to our community the better."

Framingham State University joined the Massachusetts State University System in April, requiring undergraduate and graduate students who are attending in-person classes, conducting research on campus, living in residence halls, or participating in campus life activities to become fully inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine. The presidents for the State University System expect that all faculty and staff also will be fully vaccinated prior to the fall semester.

All three COVID-19 vaccines will be available at the clinics, and both first and second doses will be administered. The flu vaccine also will be available for students, faculty, and staff.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that it is safe to get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster and a flu shot at the same time, or a COVID-19 shot and a combination of any other vaccine such as measles, pneumonia, shingles and the like at the same time.

Translators and translated material will be available at the vaccine clinic.

The COVID-19 vaccine and flu shots are free. Framingham State University students can get a vaccine even without insurance, a driver's license, or a Social Security number. Identification is not required.
