Deadline for Team Framingham Boston Marathon Application December 1

The application deadline for participating in the random selection for the 2015 Boston Marathon as a member of Team Framingham is just one week away, Monday December 1 at 4 p.m.

Applications for runners interested in participating in the random selection for these coveted invitational entries are available on the Town of Framingham web-site for downloading or at the Board of Selectmen Office in the Memorial Building.

Submissions of completed applications can be made via email to MarathonBibs@framinghamma.gov or by drop off or US mail to the Board of Selectmen, Marathon Bibs, 150 Concord St., Memorial Building, Framingham MA, 01702.

Assistant Town Manager Jennifer Thompson and Board of Selectmen Vice Chair Michael Bower announced today, Nov. 23, that the drawing to select the 22 lucky runners will take place on Monday Dec. 8th and will be open to the public. The drawing will be held in the Ablondi Room at Town Hall and start at 7 p.m.

The runners selected will be required to raise a minimum $ 1,500 for one of the following six organizations, with a fundraising target of $ 2,500:

• Call2Talk
• Framingham Adult ESL Plus
• Framingham History Center
• Friends of the Callahan Senior Center
• Resiliency for Life
• Voices Against Violence

This is up from last year’s $ 500 minimum requirement and $ 2,000 target.

Do not be left out of this wonderful opportunity to participate in this historic marathon with an official Boston Athletic Association entry.

As of Friday, Nov. 21, 33 applications had been received.

Team Framingham 2014 was mentored in their training for this challenging event by members of the Greater Framingham Running Club.

Of the 25 Team Framingham runners, 24 were successful in completing the Boston Marathon.

The running club has committed to serve in this capacity once again this year.
