Emma Tierney, 7, & The Paper Store Team Up To Strike Out Cancer

All she wants for her birthday is a purple stuffed octopus.
Last year, the bubbly, Framingham girl missed a couple of months of school as she underwent treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for leukemia.

Yesterday, the Dunning Elementary student was the face and voice of a cancer survivor at The Paper Store in Shoppers World.
Emma, who will turn 8 in mid-August, met customers and helped promote cancer care and research at Dana-Farber through the Jimmy Fund’s “Strike Out Cancer” pin-up campaign Wednesday afternoon.

The Paper Stores, including the one in Framingham, is participating in the program through Aug. 12.
Emma is a Jimmy Fund Clinic patient at Dana-Farber, and is the patient partner for this summer’s campaign in participating Taco Bell®, KFC® restaurants, and The Paper Store’s locations throughout New England. All proceeds from this program benefit adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Customers can visit The Paper Store in Framingham and make a donation through Aug. 12.
Emma was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on Oct. 3 and has received chemotherapy at Dana-Farber. She lives with her parents, Jessica and Tom, and her sister, Addison, 5 in Framingham.
She returned back to class at Dunning Elementary before Christmas last year, said her mom Jessica.
Emma wants to be a doctor or an artist, when she grows up; until then she was having fun with stuffed animals, including the Purple octopus she really wants for her birthday on Aug. 21.
