Oen's song "Annapurna" won the Boston Folk Festival Songwriting contest in 2008 and now Oen has launched into a new creative phase starting in 2010. Besides more exciting forays into the natural world, this new batch of songs is also a celebration of humans who touch other's lives. One song, "Herb," is a mini hymn about a man who is also an angel; "Bony Birches" is for a friend who loves Goldfinches; and "Lamine" is a rocking West African tribute to a generous man. The title track, "Lay Your Body Down" is an offer to his sweetheart to "just be here today". Once again, Oen will take you on a green musical adventure, and with the help of expert musician-friends, we'll take flight together into the blue, and into the micro-organismic world of the Compost Pile
"Oen Kennedy is musical, he's subtle, he's irresistible and he has an innate sense of the innocent soul in every one of us. Weaving birdsong and exotic instruments into his music as naturally as dew gathering on grass, his songs embrace the natural world with a gentle intelligence that is altogether unique. Oen can fill a room with melody and birdsong and take the people in the room to a far and magical place. . . Earth." -Marilyn Rea Beyer, Music Director, WUMB 91.9 Boston
