FRAMINGHAM, MA — It's going to be a very busy spring for Framingham resident Hannah Careway.

She's wrapping up her studies as a nursing student at MassBay Community College (which includes shifts at Framingham Union Hospital), working as a bartender at Bourbon’s Kitchen, and preparing to run her first ever Boston Marathon.

And somehow, she's found time to weave all of those things together to mount a fundraiser for her MassBay classmates.

Careway created the "Marathon Margarita" at Bourbon’s Kitchen, 47 Beacon St., and the restaurant will donate $2 from the sale of each one to meal scholarships for MassBay students.

"I really feel the love and support from the MassBay community and really everyone I tell about why I’m running," she said in a MassBay press release. "I think when you are supporting something so basic, like access to food, people are surprised and want to jump on board to help. I look forward to crossing this marathon off my bucket list and crossing the finish line."

The MassBay Student Hunger Assistance Fund’s Meal Scholarship was established in 2019, and has provided 76 students with meal cards so far.

Careway is one of three people from MassBay running in the 124th Boston Marathon to raise scholarship money. Biotechnology major Tom Regan, of Brighton, will also run to raise money for the meal scholarships. MassBay Dean of Business and Professional Studies Sue Maggioni will run to raise money for academic scholarships.
