The following is a letter to the editor and does not reflect the views of Framingham Patch.

I had the pleasure of working for Mayor Spicer for the past four years in my former role of Human Resources Director for the City of Framingham. I witnessed her lead the city with thoughtful debate, deliberate process, and the courage to make tough, and at times, unpopular decisions — when those decisions benefited all the city’s residents.

The need to provide open communication and a transparent government process for residents sometimes conflicts with the need to protect the confidentiality of the city’s many hard-working employees. I was in a unique position to witness on numerous occasions how Mayor Spicer correctly balanced these sometimes-conflicting purposes. She is somebody who chooses to do the right thing, even at the risk of her own political capital.

During the past four years, Mayor Spicer has shown great concern for both residents and city employees and has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic. Her willingness to listen to people's problems, not just to some people but all, sets Mayor Spicer apart from the other politicians. A vote for Mayor Spicer holds a great promise to lead Framingham forward, for whatever the future holds during the next four years.
