Framingham Beach Closed Again After Bacteria Found In Water
This is the second time this month the waters at Waushakum Beach were closed due to bacteria.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — Another hot weekend is expected and Framingham beach goers will have to cross Waushakum's waters off their list. The beach waters were closed to swimmers once again on Thursday after bacteria levels tested too high. This is the second time the beach has closed in a month due to bacteria in the water.
Last Tuesday, Waushakum Beaches waters were closed after waters tested with 1600 Colony Forming Units (CFU) per 100 mL of E. coli, exceeding the maximum containment level of 235. The closure had bad timing, coming just before a massive heatwave hit the state. Lucky for residents, bacteria levels were tested a few days later and the beach was reopened on Friday.
Framingham officials said that only the waters are closed but the rest of the beach and picnic areas are safe to use. Saxonville and Learned Beach were also tested but results came back clean.
