Framingham Farmer's Market Breaks Attendance Record On Opening Day
City officials said attendance on Thursday was more than three times higher than that of the previous best.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — Opening day at the Framingham Farmer's Market proved fruitful for more reason than one.
Sure, locals got their share of produce and other local products, but it was a record-breaking day for vendors, too.
City officials report that attendance at the first day of the 2023 market season soared over 3,000 people, shattering the previous attendance record by at least three times.

"Two years ago, the farmers market had just a handful of vendors. Last year the market averaged about 3 dozen vendors and had about 600-700 attendees each week, with a high of 970 in its final week," officials said on social media.
"Yesterday, the number of vendors doubled from last year, and the attendance more than tripled."

Market officials announced this year that the market has qualified for SNAP EBT, meaning SNAP participants can use their benefits at the market. SNAP will be exchanged for wooden coins at the market, which can then be used at market vendors.
Officials noted that, starting in July, the market will also add the state's Senior Citizen Farmers Market Coupons.
To date, the market has 72 confirmed vendors, four farms and nine bakeries.
