Framingham: Have You Seen Cat Missing Since Memorial Day Fire?

No injuries have been reported in the fire, though the owner's cat Kit is still missing, and fire officials called the home "a total loss."

FRAMINGHAM, MA — One person was displaced during a Memorial Day fire on Rhiner Street in Framingham, the local fire department said.

The fire happened at 19 Rhiner Street around 1:45 p.m., Fire Chief Michael Dutcher said, in a news release.

No injuries have been reported in the fire, though a cat is still missing and Dutcher called the home "a total loss."

Now, city officials have released a photo of the cat, which is named Kit. Kit's owner said the cat "is scared and may run."

A neighbor called the department around 1:45 p.m. and, upon arrival, officials encountered “heavy fire showing from front and rear on arrival."

"Crews did an outstanding job pushing in to knock down the fire," Dutcher said.

The displaced man has family in the area he will stay with in the aftermath of the fire, officials said.
