Framingham Fire Remembers Captain John Costanza
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Captain Costanza's death.
FRAMINGHAM, MA- Monday marked the 40th anniversary of the line of duty death of Framingham Fire Captain John Costanza.
Costanza died in 1979 fighting a structure fire at 337 Concord Street. He was a Framingham native who grew up in Saxonville. A member of a big family, he was one of nine children born to Sicilian parents. After graduating from Framingham High School Constanza joined the Air Force. He joined the fire department shortly after being discharged.
At the time of the Concord Street fire, Constanza was a Fire Lieutenant, but the tour after his death, he was to report to duty as a Fire Captain.

In honor of his death, a graveside ceremony was held at St. Stephens Cemetery The ceremony was immediately followed by a dedication of the Training Room at Fire Headquarters in his honor.
