Framingham Goes Orange For Gun Violence Awareness Day

City officials will wear orange and the Memorial Building will be lit with the color on Friday to observe the day.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham will join other communities across the country on Friday by observing National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

This will mark the 9th year the city has observed the day, and city officials will wear orange as is part of the national movement.

Nationally, the day honors and remembers victims and survivors of gun violence while also supporting efforts to prevent future gun violence.

A photo will be taken with the Mayor, City Councilors, City employees, Members of Moms Demand Action Against Gun Violence, and residents in front of the Memorial Building at noon.

This comes after a proclamation was issued on Tuesday by Mayor Charlie Sisitsky and the City Council.

“Cities across the nation, including Framingham, are working to end the senseless violence with evidence-based solutions and protecting public safety in the communities they serve,” the proclamation read.

The Memorial Building will also be lit in orange to mark the day.
