Framingham Hosting 2nd Annual Disability Flag Raising Ceremony
The flag raising ceremony at the Memorial Building will honor ADA Day. Here's what to know.

The City of Framingham is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Disability Flag Raising Ceremony in celebration of ADA Day. This event, hosted by the Disability Commission, will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 6:00 P.M. at the Memorial Building Plaza, 150 Concord Street.
The ceremony will feature distinguished speakers, including Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, Disability Commission Chair Sheryl Goldstein, State Representatives Danielle Gregoire, Jack Patrick Lewis, and Priscila Sousa, City Council Chair Phil Ottaviani, and District 3 City Councilor Adam Steiner. Entertainment will be provided by the Flutie Foundation’s Spectrum of Sound.

In addition to the speeches and entertainment, attendees will enjoy free giveaways, including shirts and bags. Various partners, such as the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA), MetroWest Center for Independent Living (MWCIL), Framingham Public Library, MetroWest Pharmacy, The Learning Center for the Deaf, Framingham Police, and Framingham Fire, will be present to offer information and resources.
Mayor Charlie Sisitsky emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “The Disability Flag Raising Ceremony is a vital event for our community, highlighting our commitment to inclusivity and recognizing the contributions of individuals with disabilities. It is an honor to celebrate ADA Day with our residents and to raise awareness about the importance of accessibility and equality for all.”

Disability Commission Chair Sheryl Goldstein shared her thoughts on the annual tradition,
saying, “Raising the disability flag each year is a powerful symbol of our dedication to fostering
an inclusive community. It is a reminder of the progress we have made and the work that still
needs to be done to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive in
Framingham.” Join us for an evening of celebration, reflection, and community spirit as we
honor ADA Day and reaffirm our commitment to a more inclusive Framingham.
