FRAMINGHAM, MA — Parking downtown just got a bit easier — paying for parking, that is. The city announced on Thursday that new meters were introduced to five streets downtown.

Dubbed "smart meters, the new meters accept both coins and credit cards. The five streets chosen for the inaugural smart meters hadn't had meters for two years — the city removed them to make way to install sidewalks two years ago.

In Framingham, metered parking fees are $1.25 per hour or $2 for two hours. Maximum parking time is two hours. The fine for a violation, i.e. time violation or taking up two metered spots is $15.00 each. Framingham enforces parking Monday-Saturday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays and holidays are free.
