Framingham Man Drowns In Lake Winnipesaukee
The 20-year-old was boating with three other people on New Year's Day when his boat capsized.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Framingham man drowned on New Year's Day in Lake Winnipesaukeewhile boating with three friends, according to New Hampshire state police.
Andre Rubert, 20, left the shoreline in Wolfeboro about an hour before midnight with three other people intending to reach Grant's Island. The party decided to turn back in the middle of the trip, and each boat capsized, state police said.
The four boaters then tried to swim to the shore of Grant Island. A friend of the boaters noticed they were in distress and took a canoe to reach them. The friend was able to pull three of the boaters to shore.

"The friend selflessly and successfully aided three of his friends onto the shoreline of Grant Island until first responders arrived. Fish and Game and Wolfeboro Fire Rescue later recovered the drowning victim, an adult male from Massachusetts in approximately 15 feet of water. None of the paddlers had life jackets," police said in a news release.
Rubert was originally from Brazil, and graduated from Keefe Technical High School in Framingham in 2020. He was working toward becoming an electrician at DC Electric in Hopkinton, according to his obituary.
