Framingham Man Indicted On Firearms And Ammunition Charges
A Framingham man could face a lengthy prison sentence after being indicted on illegal weapons charges as an "armed career criminal."
FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Framingham man was indicted Thursday for unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Massachusetts announced.
Edwin Alago, 42, was indicted on two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Alago was previously arrested on related state charges and will appear in federal court at a later date, officials said.
According to the indictment, in May 2021, Alago possessed a SCCY .9mm CPX-2 semi-automatic pistol with a defaced serial number and seven rounds of .9mm ammunition.

It is further alleged that, in November 2022, Alago possessed a Colt, automatic, .25mm pistol and six rounds of .25 caliber ammunition.
Due to multiple previous felony convictions for drug distribution, drug possession and assault with a dangerous weapon, Alago is considered "an armed career criminal" and is prohibited from possessing firearms, officials said.

Alago faces a prison sentence of up to 15 years with three years of supervised release, in addition to a fine of up to $250,000 for the felon in possession charge.
Because of his status as an "armed career criminal" he faces a mandatory minimus of 15 years and up to life in prison, officials said.
