Framingham PD Warn About Eversource Phone Scam
The caller ID shows up as Eversource Customer Service but turns out to be a scam.

FRAMINGHAM, MA-Framingham police are advising residents to double check the phone number before answering a call that might appear to be Eversource customer service.
Police said the latest phone scam targets the energy company's customers by using a caller ID named 'Eversource Customer Service' with the number 800-964-2330. The department took to Facebook to warn people that was not Eversource's number and the call was a scam.
The caller on the other line tells the resident their account is not in good standing. They then instruct the resident to get gift cards/money cards to make a payment. Police warn that the message on the callback sounds convincing and even connects you to "customer billing", but it is a scam.

"Customers can always verify they are speaking with an Eversource representative by asking for some basic information about their account like the name on the account, the account address, and the exact past due balance. We never demand instant payment over the phone, require the use of pre-paid debit cards or request customers meet at a payment center to make the payment," the company said.
