FRAMINGHAM, MA — If you've ever given up trying to cross near the intersection of Concord and Central streets, you're going to want to hear about a new traffic project in the works.

Framingham is planning a major overhaul of the main Saxonville intersection, including pedestrian upgrades, bicycle sharrows, new traffic signals and parking. The Department of Public Works will hold a public hearing on the project in mid-November.

The improvements will be made along Central Street from the Sudbury River pond to Concord Street, and then south from Concord/Elm Street to near the Sudbury River crossing at Victoria Gardens.

Today, the Concord-Central intersection is a bit of a jumble with limited on-street parking. And pedestrians can only cross Concord Street on the north side of the intersection near Stones Court. That leaves pedestrians with the option to either cross two streets or take a chance crossing outside a crosswalk.

The design public meeting will happen on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. via Zoom.
