Framingham Police Get $10K Grant For Community Service Volunteers
The Mutual One Charitable Foundation will help the department transition its auxiliary police officers to community service volunteers.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham Police Department received a $10,000 grant from the Mutual One Charitable Foundation, officials said.
The funds will help the department transition its auxiliary police officers to community service volunteers.
"Our Community Service Volunteers are trained and valuable members of the community who volunteer their time to assist the Department," the department said.

"Thank you for helping to support this important group."
The auxiliary police force was founded in 1942, according to the group's website. In its current iteration, "officers attend initial Reserve Officer training provided through the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee at one of their regional academy locations in Massachusetts," the website reads.

The overall goal of the force is to support the police department in the event of a civil or natural disaster, or if additional personnel is needed.
