Framingham Police Look To Renew Waverly Substation Lease
The city of Framingham has negotiated a five-year lease for the substation

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham Police Department is set to sign a long-term lease on the Waverly Substation in the Tripoli neighborhood. The City Council last week approved a new five-year lease that will cost the department $8,400 per year.
The substation — known as the Tripoli Substation — opened after concerns over crime in the area. The substation sits in a former barbershop in a parking lot near the corner of Waverly Street/Route 153 and Winter Street.
The department dedicated the substation in March 2014. At the time, former Framingham chief Ken Ferguson called the facility "an excellent example of community policing in action."

Framingham officers can use the building as a work space, but it's also open for the community to use for small meetings. The building is open to the public weekdays 6 to 8 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Although the City Council has approved the lease, it will also need to be approved by Mayor Yvonne Spicer.
