The car hit him in the leg and threw him into the air — police said he landed on a mulch bed.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Framingham police officer was hit by a car on Mother's Day. He was working a paving detail with U.S. Pavement services on Route 9 when he was hit in the leg. Police said the force of the hit threw the officer into the area and he landed on a mulch bed.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. on Sunday along Route 9 near the Herb Connolly Acura Dealership. A driver and witnesses told police one car stopped on the road, to avoid hitting the officer and a second car was speeding and tried to turn right to avoid hitting the stopped car, but ended up hitting the police officer.
Police said the officer saw the car coming and tried to run out of the way. The police officer was not identified. Police said he was hit in the lower leg area and taken for treatment by ambulance.
