Framingham Sees Slight Rise In Coronavirus Cases Over Weekend
Framingham had 16 new cases over the weekend, the first double-digit rise since June 1.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham saw the first double-digit increase in coronavirus cases since June 1 over the weekend. Sixteen residents tested positive for the virus, and one person died, according to city health officials.
Framingham has been reporting case numbers three times a week since mid-June, when the virus began to slow down in the area. Since then, no single report has had more than 10 cases. The last time the city reported a double-digit increase was on June 1 when 20 people tested positive.

- July 13 to 19 — 20 new cases
- July 6 to 12 — 12 new cases
- June 29 to July 5 — 8 new cases
- June 22 to 28 — 19 new cases
- June 15 to 21 — 8 new cases
The number of active cases in Framingham also ticked up over the weekend, rising from 79 on July 17 to 90 by Sunday.
Statewide, new tests have been in the 200 range in recent days. On Monday, the state reported 174 new cases and only one death. Since March, Massachusetts has counted 107,056 total coronavirus cases and 8,214 deaths.

Coronavirus is still surging in the U.S. — 60,000 new cases were detected on Monday, and 531 more people died. More than 3.8 million in the U.S. have contracted the virus, and 140,000 have died from it.
