Framingham Woman Died In Custody At Corrections Facility
The woman was awaiting trial for attempted murder.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Framingham woman who was awaiting trial for an attempted murder charge, died while in custody at the Framingham corrections facility. The woman, Devonrick Schouten of Union Avenue, was found unresponsive by an employee in the facility on June 21.
A spokes person for the Department of Correction said as soon as she was found, "Life saving measures were followed. Framingham Fire took over life saving measures at approximately 6:46 p.m. and Detainee Schouten was transported to Metro-West Medical Center."
Schouten was pronounced dead on June 25 at the hospital. The department did not disclose the cause of death. The Middlesex County District Attorney’s office was notified and the incident is under investigation.

Schouten was arrested in May after witnesses at the scene said she stabbed another woman in the stomach on Memorial Day. She was charged with attempted murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
Fire officials told WHDH that the victim also fell down a flight of stairs after she was stabbed and was flown to the hospital.
