Grand Opening: New Framingham Hoops And Homework Facility

A virtual grand opening ceremony will be held Thursday for the new Interfaith Terrace facility.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A new Hoops and Homework facility along Interfaith Terrace will be christened on Thursday with a virtual grand opening ceremony.

The expanded Interfaith Terrace location was made possible with a donation from Capital Group Properties, Brendon Properties and the Flatley Company. The new space will accommodate 28 students, an increase of 18, according to founder Herb Chasan. The facility, built by JBJ Construction, will be dedicated to the memory of former Brendon Properties president Kevin Giblin.

Combined with Hoops and Homework's Pusan Road facility, the program has room for about 50 students across Framingham.

The expansion also brings the need for more funding. Chasan said Hoops and Homework is seeking donations to pay for supplies, furniture and staff to fill the new expanded space.

Chasan and other local volunteers founded Hoops and Homework in 2012 to serve students living at two Framingham Housing Authority sites, and in 2017 became a licensed childcare provider. The two facilities have remained open through the coronavirus pandemic.
