Fundraiser Set Up For Murphy's Owner After Devastating Framingham Fire

A fundraiser for Shaun Keefe, who owns Murphy's Eats & Treats, has raised almost $83,000 hoping to aid his family after a house fire.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Small businesses often give so much to the communities they operate within. After all, what defines a place more than the spaces which people can gather in?

Now, the owner of Murphy's Eats & Treats is getting an opportunity to find out what a community can give back to him.

In a fundraiser organized by Jason Heggs, almost 720 people have donated money in an effort to help Murphy's owner Shaun Keefe and his family get back on their feet after a house fire destroyed their home on June 16.

Those donors have given nearly $83,000 to the Keefe family to cover the costs of temporary housing, food, clothing, personal care needs and, of course, restoring at least some of what was lost in the fire.

Though no injuries were reported in the fire, officials said the home was left uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but officials don't think it started under suspicious circumstances.

"While we are grateful that the entire family is safe and unharmed, the emotional and physical toll of this disaster is immense," Heggs said on the fundraiser page.
