IMAGE GALLERY: Library Offers Kids Time on Wii

Monday Night was game night at the Framingham Public Library. Almost 30 children and thier parents came to the Costin Room of the Main Library Branch, drawn to more than 10 games and the chance to challenge friends on the Wii.

Most kids rotated from game to game, trying old favorites such as Operation and Junior Scrabble, and learning new ones like a dominos game featuring farm animals.

Some children stuck to one game, like one pair who spent the whole night engaged in a raucous game of Junior Monopoly.

The library hosts events like this once or twice a year usually, said Lucy Loveridge, supervisor of children's services for the library. Attendence was higher this year than last year, she added.

Game night is "a good low-input kind of program," because it offers lots of different kinds of fun for many kids, without using many resources, she said. It gets the parents involved with the kids, and children can make new friends, she added.
