Genesis Counseling Services Awarded $2,500 by MutualOne Charitable Foundation
Genesis Counseling Services is a Framingham-based nonprofit organization that provides outpatient substance abuse treatment.

The MutualOne Charitable Foundation has awarded $2,500 to support the Project Parenting program offered by Genesis Counseling Services, announced Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a trustee of the Foundation.
Founded in 1995, Genesis Counseling Services is a Framingham-based nonprofit organization that provides outpatient substance abuse treatment for men, women, families and adolescents.
According to Lisa Robideau, Genesis president and clinical director, the Project Parenting program will focus on enhancing family bonding and developing parenting skills, including skills that are considered critical for alcohol and drug abuse prevention.

“Educational programs are designed to prevent the problem before it becomes a problem and treatment is required,” Robideau said.
“Alcohol and drug abuse among students is becoming more and more of an issue,” said Haranas. “We are happy to support a program to help individuals and families work toward abuse prevention.”

The MutualOne Charitable Foundation’s award will help provide parenting skills education to low-income MetroWest families.
The grant to Genesis Counseling Services was among awards totaling $63,375 in the Foundation’s most recent round of funding.
Since it was established in 1998, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has donated over $2.8 million to charitable, educational, and civic initiatives that improve and enhance the quality of life in Framingham, Natick, and surrounding communities.
MutualOne Bank, which operates under an 1889 state charter, has full-service offices at 828 Concord Street and One Lincoln Street in Framingham and at 49 Main Street in Natick, a Commercial Loan Center at 160 Cochituate Road in Framingham, and a Residential Loan Center at 49 Main Street in Natick.
