Gov. Charlie Baker In Framingham To Support Council Candidate

The Tuesday event with Gov. Charlie Baker in Framingham will be open to the public.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker will make stop in Framingham on Tuesday to support At-Large City Council candidate Janet Leombruno.

Leombruno is a first-time candidate running in a three-way race for two at-large City Council seats. The other candidates include incumbent George P. King, Jr. and Gloria Pascual.

Leombruno said she met Baker during William Weld's term in office in the 1990s.

"I met Charlie during the Weld administration and was impressed with his dedication and commitment. And then years later, we became reacquainted at a friends house while he was thinking about running for Governor," she told Patch.

Leombruno previously served as a Framingham Town Meeting member between 2003 and 2017, and also served on the 2016 Charter Commission, and as a member of the Framingham Housing Authority, and the state Funeral Board. You can read more about her in a Patch candidate profile.

The event with Baker is free and open to the public. The event is at 5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 450 Union Ave.
