Grace Church, ReFoamit Fill 24-Foot Trailer With Foam

The next collection will be on Jan. 3, 2015 from 10-2.

By Jean Burr

Grace Church, in partnership with ReFoamIt, LLC, hosted its 21st collection of foam (commonly called Styrofoam™) this past weekend in its church lot at 76 Salem End Road.

Thanks to the many loyal, as well as new, volunteers the crew was able to accommodate those that came locally and from a distance. This was not an easy task as so many people came to take advantage of the opportunity to recycle their foam, bubble wrap and peanuts.

We fully packed a large 24-foot enclosed trailer with foam packing blocks, cups, coolers, etc., and had to wait for a second trailer to take the additional material.

During the past five years of quarterly collections, the church has collected several thousand pounds of foam which would otherwise have been either incinerated or put into a landfill.
