Have You Heard About Framingham's New Veterans Park?: Letter
Hear from resident Nicole Doak about a revitalized park reopening on Veterans Day.

The following is a letter to the editor and does not reflect the views of Framingham Patch
Have you noticed all the excitement going on in the park on Concord Street by the courthouse? That's Framingham's Veterans Park, part of a large area of land called Musterfield that is rich in Framingham and military history. Since the spring, Framingham police Lt. Robert Downing has been spearheading a volunteer-based project to update and revitalize Veteran's Park.
The park is set to re-open with a re-dedication ceremony on Veterans Day at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend, and are asked to arrive by 10:45 a.m.

The Veterans Park revitalization project is meaningful to so many people in so many ways, my family included. I initially bought a brick for my father for Father's Day to honor him and my brother, both Navy veterans. What started as a tribute has become more emotional and meaningful than we ever would have imagined in the past couple of weeks.
My family owes a debt of gratitude to those involved in the project, specifically Lt. Downing, Framingham Veterans Service Officer Kathleen Lang, Veteran Northeast Outreach Center MetroWest Director Carol Callaghan, Assistant Framingham Fire Chief John Schultz, and Framingham Fire Department Community Intervention Specialist Kelly Hagerty. Words can't express how appreciative my family and I are for the many kindnesses and special considerations we have been shown. All I can say is from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

My family will be at the re-dedication ceremony. It's going to be a beautiful day. Please join us as we pay tribute to our veterans as they stand with us in person and in spirit.
