Hoops And Homework To Mark 10 Years In October
The open house in October will feature work by local students in the program, and remarks from Framingham officials.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The after school program Hoops and Homework will mark a major milestone in October: ten years providing education, meals and more to kids in the city's lowest-income areas.
Herb Chasan started Hoops and Homework in 2012 along with other community members, initially serving kids living in the Framingham Housing Authority sites along Interfaith Terrace and Pusan Road.
The program has grown over the years, offering activities from violin lessons to field trips, and recently expanded its Interfaith Terrace location.

The 10-year anniversary celebration will include presentations by kids in the program, plus visits from Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, Council Chair Philip Ottaviani, Police Chief Lester Baker, Superintendent Robert Tremblay and state lawmakers.
"This should be a wonderful way to celebrate the great things that the kids and staff at Hoops and Homework accomplish while also giving a boost to those who help sustain the programs for students and their families in our community," Chasan said.
