ASHLAND, MA — Major construction on the mold-contaminated Ashland Post Office will begin in May and take about three months to complete, according to town officials.

The post office has been closed since Nov. 21. The U.S. Postal Service determined that a mold problem in the basement of the circa 1939 building at the corner of Main and Summer streets needed to be dealt with. More than a dozen employees working at the Ashland building were relocated to the Hopkinton Post Office. PO boxes were also moved to Hopkinton.

In a statement posted on social media, the town of Ashland said that the U.S. Postal Service has been doing "minor restoration" work since the November closure.
