Mass Save® and Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Launch Fundraiser to Support Gold Star Families and Veterans
Specialty LED packs will be on sale to support Massachusetts Fallen Heroes

(June 28, 2017 – Boston, MA) – For the second consecutive year, Massachusetts Fallen Heroes and the Sponsors of Mass Save® – including Cape Light Compact, Eversource, National Grid, and Unitil – are holding a fundraiser in support of Gold Star Families and returning Veterans. Specialty LED packs will be on sale from June to November, with half of the proceeds going toward Massachusetts Fallen Heroes.
Through Veteran’s Day, Mass Save and retailer TechniArt will sell the specialty LED packs at pop-up retail booths during community events, as well as online. Packs contain 10 ENERGY STAR® certified LEDs with a camouflage base, and will sell for $10 each. For each pack sold, Massachusetts Fallen Heroes will receive $5. Building off the success of last year’s fundraiser – which raised over $22,000 for the organization – the goal is to raise an additional $25,000 through this year’s campaign.
“We’re excited to work with the Sponsors of Mass Save for a second year in a row to bring awareness to the sacrifice of our service men and women and their families,” said Dan Magoon, Executive Director of Massachusetts Fallen Heroes. “Through the fundraising support Mass Save provided last year, we were able to support Patriot Week 2017, provide excursions and support for Gold Star Families, and expand our Veteran’s Edge program. We look forward to another year of success working with Mass Save.”

About Massachusetts Fallen Heroes:
Established in 2010 by Boston firefighters, police officers, local Veterans, Gold Star Families, and other patriotic citizens, Massachusetts Fallen Heroes is committed to honoring the Fallen, assisting Gold Star Families, and empowering returning Veterans. Massachusetts Fallen Heroes was founded with the mission of honoring those who sacrificed their lives while fighting in the Global War on Terrorism, and, in 2016, the organization unveiled a memorial at Boston’s Seaport Park honoring the Fallen.
Since its founding, Massachusetts Fallen Heroes has expanded into a multi-faceted organization that also provides services and support for Gold Star Families and returning Veterans. Through its Veteran’s Edge program, Massachusetts Fallen Heroes acts as a liaison in securing educational, employment, medical, legal, financial, and other services for local Veterans, their families, and families of the Fallen. The organization has also launched several initiatives to support Gold Star Families, including scholarships and retreats that create a sense of community among families of the Fallen.
