Massachusetts Brewers Guild Adds Sam Hendler of Jack’s Abby to its Board of Directors
Jack's Abby co-owner Volunteers for the Mass Brewers Guild

The Massachusetts Brewers Guild, a nonprofit organization which works to promote and protect craft brewers across the Commonwealth, has undergone new structural changes to help amplify the mission and message of the organization with the public.
One of these changes is the addition of Sam Hendler co-owner of Jack’s Abby, located in Framingham, Mass., to join its board of directors. Hendler, 26, was raised in family business all his life and he brings his experience of the food and beverage industry to the team.
Founded in 2011 by three brothers, Jack, Eric, and Sam Hendler, Jack’s Abby has become a mainstay of the craft brewing scene in the Northeast and nationwide. The Hendler brothers grew up in a family that promoted entrepreneurship. By working for the family’s ice distribution company throughout their youth, they learned the value of committed family members and loyal employees—the foundation of which Jack’s Abby is based.

When Hendler isn’t wearing one of his many hats managing the expansion of their new brewery, overseeing the sales team and ensuring everything is running smoothly, he’ll be volunteering his time to help the Massachusetts Brewers Guild grow and thrive. Hendler is helping to lead the nonprofit’s finance committee and his first task is to manage the nonprofit’s fundraising opportunities to sustain the organization’s new endeavors for 2017.
“I was honored to be asked to join the board and help to bring together a stronger community of beer lovers and brewery owners across the Commonwealth,” says Hendler. “The Massachusetts beer scene is growing exponentially every day. We can capture all of this excitement to show New England the amazing things brewing right here in our state. I am excited to roll up my sleeves and get started.”

Founded in 2007, by a group of committed and passionate brewers, the Massachusetts Brewers Guild has been instrumental in protecting the interests of Massachusetts state breweries at the state level. In 2017, the organization will focus on a rebranding effort with a new website, revitalized passport program and the creation of innovative beer festivals with the goal of hosting 2,000 attendees and 150 breweries from across the state. The board will also continue its work at the legislative level, fighting for license and franchise law reform, and serving as the voice of craft brewers on Beacon Hill.
