FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham State University is reporting zero new coronavirus cases after a new round of testing was completed on Friday. The school saw a spike in cases on Tuesday after more than 400 students and staff were tested.

As of Friday, the school has detected 15 total cases so far since late August. The school had reported 10 new cases on Sept. 8, but no new ones since then. There were eight students quarantined on campus and two off-campus as of Sept. 11. Another 10 students were in isolation.

The school's seven-day positive test rate was about 1.12 percent, slightly above the statewide average of about 1 percent.

Colleges across the country have been hotspots for coronavirus transmission after large student gatherings. Recently, more than 20 Holy Cross students in Worcester tested positive for coronavirus after attending an off-campus party. Colleges in other states have seen similar outbreaks, including at UConn, Providence College and the University of Alabama.

FSU is warning students that any activity counter to state health and safety guidelines could result in discipline, including removal from the school.
