FRAMINGHAM, MA — A company that operates an Indian restaurant in Northborough is looking to open a new eatery in Framingham.

Westborough-based Agape Restaurant Group has applied for a license to open a restaurant called Silk-Global Cuisine at a shopping plaza along Edgell Road. Agape also operates Kumar's Boston at the Wegmans shopping plaza in Northborough.

Agape will go before the Board of License Commissioners on Monday for a common victualler license, a necessary step before opening any restaurant in Massachusetts.

Silk-Global Cuisine will be located at the plaza at 1 Edgell Road, which used to be the home of Volturno Framingham, a wood-fired pizza spot. The restaurant closed in March 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and never reopened.

The new restaurant would also be located near one of Framingham's newest dining spots: Kalasha Bubble Tea and Chicken just opened last week in the Trolley Square plaza after months of anticipation.
