Retirement Of Longtime School Police Officer Leaves Rich Legacy: Report
Kathy McGrath could have retired years ago, but didn't want to leave her 'kids.'
FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Framingham police officer who’s served the community for nearly 40 years has finally retired from her job.
Kathy McGrath could have left long ago with a full pension. But as the school resource officer, she didn’t want to leave her “kids,” the MetroWest Daily News reported.
“I loved my job,” she told the newspaper. However, she knew she’d have to stop working as she approached 65, the mandatory retirement age for most police.

McGrath joined the police department in 1987, and initially was a patrol officer, a bicycle officer and a member of an auto-theft task force. In 1999, she began service in the Framingham schools.
Today, she says, almost anyone who’s gone through them has met her at some point.
