Route 2 Crash Kills MA Man

A 58-year-old Westminster man was pronounced dead at the scene, and two other men suffered minor injuries.

WESTMINSTER, MA — A Westminster man was killed after he allegedly rear-ended a vehicle on Route 2 Friday night.

State Police said Craig Dougherty, 58, was driving east in a Honda Civic when he struck a Jeep from behind. Dougherty's vehicle rolled over and he was ejected from it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two men in the Jeep, a 25-year-old from Arlington, Texas and a 25-year-old from Haverhill, were brought to Leominster Hospital with minor injuries.

Police do not know what caused Dougherty's vehicle to strike the back of the Jeep.

The right travel lane and breakdown lane were closed for about 4 hours.
