In addition to paintings, shoppers found jewelry, pottery, hat, scarves and gloves, note cards and prints, mixed media, photography and more

Twice a year, once in December and once in April, artists at the Fountain Street Studios, in downtown Framingham, open their work space to the public and sell their works directly to buyers.

Usually it a 3-day weekend event, but this year the winter open studios was one day only - yesterday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There was a steady stream of adults and families, who stopped by more than 3 dozen studios open to the public.

Most artists said they were happy with the traffic. Some artists were selling more than others.

On Saturday, Framingham Patch profiled the newest artist to the studios Catherine “Cathy” Gruetzke-Blais. By mid-day , she said she had already sold 4 paintings and another work was on hold by a customer.

When, Patch stopped by Jorie Designs, she had just sold a painting to a couple.

The next Fountain Street Open Studios is scheduled for the last weekend in April 2015.

However, if you see something you like in the slideshow below, contact the studios; and the artists do open their studios by appointment, throughout the year.
