FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham's first mayor — and the first Black woman in Massachusetts elected by voters to be mayor — will deliver the Framingham's first-ever mayoral farewell speech in December.

Mayor Yvonne Spicer, whose first four-year term concludes at the end of the year, will deliver remarks on Zoom and the city's government channel on Dec. 16. A news release about the event did not hint at what Spicer will say.

Spicer first won office in 2017, taking office with a pledge to steer Framingham through the transition from being a town to a city.

"In November, the people voted for change to support the growth of our community, the vibrancy of our neighborhoods and the prosperity of our future. As your Mayor, I humbly accept the challenge to lead our community, to fulfill our incredible potential, as we take this bold step to become a city," she said in her 2018 inauguration speech.

On Nov. 2, Spicer conceded the election to challenger Charlie Sisitsky, who won by a margin of 8,283 to 3,909.
