Steven D. Trask Sworn In As Framingham's New Police Chief
Steven Trask is now the seventh police chief in Framingham.

FRAMINGHAM, MA- Steven D. Trask was sworn in as Framingham's seventh police chief, Monday.
Trask was ceremonially sworn in at Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building as the first Chief of Police since Framingham made its transition into a city.
Trask began his career as a patrol officer and worked his way up to deputy chief. He became acting chief after his appointment by Mayor Yvonne Spicer when the previous chief, Ken Ferguson, retired in April.

Mayor Spicer's choice for Trask to be chief drew criticism from superior officers and parol officers. They accused the mayor of not conducting an open and public search without feedback from the department or the public.
Mayor Spicer stood by her nominee. She said during the ceremony, “When you think of leaders, you think of the many facets of leadership, whether it be transformational, whether it be moral, whether it be instructional leader. You have to have a little bit of all those skill sets to be a leader and I’ve watched him demonstrate them."

Trask said during the ceremony, “The one thing the members of the Police Department and the residents of Framingham can count on is that every day I am committed to do the right thing for the Framingham Police Department and the city of Framingham. It won’t always be the popular thing to do or the easy thing to do, but you should expect nothing less from me.”
