Suspect In Spree Of Bank Robberies In Central MA Arrested
Prosecutors say Matthew Alden, 26, is tied to eight bank robberies, including ones in Framingham and Marlborough.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Lancaster man was arrested this week in connection to a series of bank robberies across the state in recent months, including robberies in Framingham and Marlborough.
Matthew Alden, 26, was arrested on Thursday on charges that he robbed a TD Bank in Athol on Feb. 4 and an Avidia Bank in Shrewsbury on Feb. 21.
Federal prosecutors say Alden is connected to other incidents, including the robbery of an Enterprise Bank on Nov. 21 in Westford; a Honey Farms in Lunenburg on Dec. 11; a Cornerstone Bank in Leicester on Dec. 12; a Marlborough Avidia branch on Dec. 27; a Metro Credit Union in Framingham on Jan. 10; a TD Bank in Foxborough on Jan. 10; and a Citizens Bank in Nashua, N.H., on Feb. 13.

Alden has so far been charged with two counts of interference with commerce by threats or violence. Federal prosecutors said Alden walked into the banks and demanded cash from bank tellers while wearing a ski mask. No weapon was displayed during the Marlborough robbery, police said at the time.
Alden is being held in federal detention, and will appear in court next on March 5.
