'Tropic Isle Aquarium' Store Moves To Route 9

The store had been at the original Pierce Street location for over 45 years.

FRAMINGHAM, MA- Fish lovers in Framingham know Tropic Isle well as the go-to spot for aquarium needs, but some customers may have been having trouble finding it lately. That's because the store moved to Route 9.

Tropic Isle said goodbye to their Pierce Street location about two months ago and have settled into a new home at 1094 Worcester Road. Employee Sharon London said most customers are making their way to the new location although some are still lingering at the old shop. "It just wasn't practical anymore, the building was old," London said.

Tropic Isle first opened up shop in 1967. Owner Ellis London has a passion for all things aquatic and channeled that passion into the store. London studied Ichthyology and Marine Biology at Boston University & Chemistry at Harvard University. The business is somewhat of a family affair, with Ellis London overseeing the store as the owner and founder and his wife Sharon London working the register.

Longtime customers were happy to see the store alive and well in its new location. Amanda Shepard said she's been shopping at Tropic Isle since she was a kid. "I'm an old school customer," she said, "Tropic Isle is our go-to place for all our aquarium needs, and it's wonderful it's so close here in Framingham."

The store supplies live fish, aquatic plants, food and aquarium decorations. Even if you're stocked up on fish food, you can always stop in and take a photo with the stores cutest employee: Zoey the dog. Zoey is another staple in the store and even has her own blog on the store's website with her hours listed, articles posted (she's quite the writer) and photos with customers.
