Vice Chair Of City Council Sisitsky Not Seeking Re-Election

Nearly two years ago I announced my candidacy for City Council from District One. I knew then that my experience in municipal government uniquely qualified me to help lead the transition from town to city government. In that historic election, it was important that people with extensive knowledge about Framingham’s issues and operations along with wide-ranging experience of municipal government be involved in the transition to a City.

My public life in Framingham has spanned over 40 years. I have been a member of town
meeting, finance committee, Board of Selectmen and City Council as well as dozens of
committees. During my term as a City Councilor, I am pleased that many of the initiatives that
begun when I was a Selectman have been realized. Over the years I have worked with a large
and diverse number of board members as well as four different town managers and the current
Mayor. I have demonstrated consistent ability to work cooperatively and effectively with
everyone for the best interests of the entire community.

However, as the election season begins, I am announcing that I have chosen not to seek
reelection as District One City Councilor. By making my announcement at this time I hope that
it will give a well-qualified candidate the opportunity to consider running for this very important
seat.

Throughout my many years of public service I was able to help countless individuals navigate the
complexities and challenges of dealing with city and town government. Most recently, I have
received a lot of satisfaction having been Chair of the Fuller School Building Committee at its
inception, until I was elected to the City Council. I have remained a member of that committee
and I look forward to the success of this project with the groundbreaking for the new school in
June.

During the last two years as we transitioned from the Town of Framingham to the City of
Framingham, I was proud to have kept my commitment to support and work cooperatively
with our new Mayor and make our new government work for the benefit of the entire
community.

I urge the new City Council to continue in that vein to work effectively with the Mayor and her
administration in the best interests of the City.
