I am writing to urge the voters of District 3 to re-elect Adam Steiner to the City Council (again) on Jan. 11. As you may be aware, the results of the November election were close and while Adam received slightly more votes than his opponent, other election irregularities resulted in a re-run of the election which is now taking place on Jan. 11.
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Adam Steiner on the City Council when Framingham transitioned to City government, and found him to be a person of integrity who approaches issues in a patient, thoughtful and respectful way. He makes decisions based on what would be best for his District and for Framingham and doesn’t pander to political allies. His accomplishments on the Council are many and include increased funding for our schools, sustainability initiatives, open space preservation and responsible zoning. He is the only person on the Council with professional expertise in the area of information systems, a challenging area in municipal government which is essential to providing state-of-the-art services. We all benefit from his background and skills in this critical area. He also helped organize and launch our first Framingham Youth Council and serves as an important liaison for our young leaders.

As an educator and parent of two FHS graduates, I know that Framingham must adequately support our schools. That’s why I’m supporting Adam Steiner for District 3 Council. Adam knows education — both he and his wife are public school educators. He also knows Framingham — he grew up here and has two children that have gone through FPS. Lastly, as chair of the Council’s Finance Subcommittee, he has experience looking deeply at issues to make sure we get the most we can from every dollar spent. District 3, please join me in supporting Adam for Council!
—Adam Blumer, Framingham
Incumbent City Councilor Adam Steiner has been responsive to our needs and those of the Framingham Centre Historic District. He not only understands the problems we face with neighborhood preservation, but also is right there with ideas and support. He was involved in and appreciates the significance to the entire city of the Framingham Centre Cultural District. The function of a local representative is to serve and protect. And build on the best. He has done this ably and deserves to continue in his role. That is why we are voting for Adam Steiner, District 3 City Councilor.

As the former chair of the Economic Development Industrial Corporation (“EDIC”) of the Town and City of Framingham, as a former chair of Framingham Downtown Renaissance, and as an attorney, I work constantly with small businesses. As a result of this involvement, I am personally interested in the composition of the Framingham City Council. In the special election for District 3 Councilor, Adam Steiner is the best candidate. His election is crucial if Framingham is to continue to make economic progress, especially in Framingham’s downtown. I am confident that Adam’s experience, involvement and expertise will ensure that Framingham’s business community will have a friend and an advocate who will help to provide and enhance an environment that creates jobs, tax revenue and opportunities for improvement that benefit all of us.
In a mature community like Framingham, there is not a lot of undeveloped land available for use in growing the tax base. This means that providing opportunities for growth of the business sector is the only way to increase the total of tax dollars needed to fund the educational and public safety needs of the City. Adam has shown his understanding of this issue and is a responsible and rational advocate for the business community. This understanding and advocacy benefits all of us who live in Framingham
Please join me in supporting Adam Steiner
—Michael G. Gatlin, Framingham
