GRAFTON, MA — Grafton High School is welcoming a new biology teacher who plans to bring her research experience into the classroom.
Ella Grant, a first-year teacher, will begin her career in Grafton after earning a Bachelor of Science in secondary education with a concentration in life science and a minor in biology from the University of Maine at Farmington in May, according to the Grafton Gators Spotlight.
Grant completed substitute teaching and student teaching assignments in Maine's Spruce Mountain School District while pursuing her degree.
Research and investigation will be central to Grant's teaching. Her undergraduate projects examined fruit fly genetics, changes in aquatic macroinvertebrate populations and the effects of temperature on bacterial populations.
Grant said she looks forward to sharing those experiences with students and helping them undertake their own research projects.
Outside the classroom, Grant plays and coaches field hockey. She will coach Grafton Middle School's field hockey team this fall as she becomes involved in the Grafton community.
